Pants split into three types here, and they fail in different ways. Cargos fail on pocket placement and fabric stiffness. Track pants fail on the side stripe alignment and the cuffs. Sweatpants fail on fleece weight.
For cargos, the pocket flap stitching is the giveaway — sloppy diagonal stitching on a flap is the most visible flaw on an otherwise good pair. For track pants, check that the stripe meets the waistband and the ankle at the same point on both legs.
Wide-leg and stacked silhouettes depend on inseam length, not waist. If you want the fabric to pool at the ankle, order the longer inseam and accept the extra length; if you want a clean break, match your usual inseam.
Waist is the easier measurement — go by the centimetre number, not the label. Drawstring-waist pants are forgiving; fixed-waist cargos are not.
Heavy cotton fleece sweatpants are winter wear. Lightweight nylon cargos are summer. A rep pair marked "cotton" that weighs nothing is almost always polyester blend — check the stated fabric weight before ordering for a specific season.
Every listing here shows the fabric and the batch so you can compare across sellers before you commit.
Most follow the retail cut. Go by the centimetre waist and inseam, not the label number, especially on luxury brands.
Pocket flap stitching, zipper function, and whether the fabric holds its shape rather than collapsing.
Order a longer inseam than usual. The extra length is what creates the stacking, not a bigger waist.
Look for heavyweight cotton fleece. Lightweight pairs marked cotton are usually a polyester blend and are not winter wear.
